The nice things in Barrackpore (Part 1)

When I went to Barrackpore which in the heart of Bengal, I stayed in a gigantic jute mill over 230 years old ! Which is where I saw a 210 year old railway bridge with excellent quality of wood. So rusted was the machinery that it looked like it was going to fall off. I was very pleased..

That was the jetty and not a bridge. The steamers tied up at the jetty and the bales of jute were loaded from the trollies, hence the rails.

It's great to know you see the value in old places and things. Not many kids would have liked going to a historical site. They'd rather be in a water park. I had a nephew, Nihal an ex- Campionite who lived at Barrackpur for some years and he loved the place. He would often tell me stories of the place.
And coincidentally when he went in for a scholarship to UWC they were so impressed at how much he knew about the place and he did get the scholarship.
I know you too are made for great things. Keep it up.
