The assembly in school
On friday during assembly, we heard that it was our principal's birthday. We were extremely happy on hearing this. S Sir took a lot of trouble to teach the choir boys, our principal, Mr. P M's birthday song. Then we saw the birthday cake and everybody broke out in song "Happy birthday Sir" when our principal cut the cake. When we were going back to our classroom, each of us got a chocolate biscuit. I was very pleased.

How things have changed! I never thought that my principal, Ole Gruff'n'Glum, even had a birthday. He looked hewn from stone, as old as the sky.
I agree. For me, school assemblies always meant standing out in the sun listening to speeches and always ended with some girl fainting because of the heat. Lucky you...
