Holey!!

Once long ago in Kolkata, at my grandparents house, I was lying under the mosquito net.I was angry for some reason or other, so I was punching the net. My grandmother then told me calmly not to punch it, as it was God.
I stopped for a while looked around then agreed, it was very holey.

Kolkata

I am in Kolkata currently, I've been there for the past one week.In the last seven days I have eaten at 7 restaurants, stayed and eaten at the best club in all of Kolkata, and talked with 2 bengali celebrities plus I still have one week of holidays left.Who knows what else will happen.I landed here on the 17th night and we were staying with my grand parents. The next night we ate at a wonderful restaurant called Mainland China (No prize for guessing the cuisine). Then after a long sleep and an argumentative awakening I had 4 shingada(Samosa)and 2 kachauri .(what a light breakfast...)Then we ate lunch and dinner at home. The next night we first went to my fathers friends office (after hours of course)and while the adults chatted, me and my friend listened to loud music and  ate fish fry (a delicacy). Then we went to a small restaurant called Russel's Dhaba and we ate some chicken bharta(I know it sounds horrible but it was delicious)and drank lassi..And retired to some soft music on the glass house on a terrace of a triplex bungalow in the heart of Calcutta..The next three days were spent eating swimming and more eating at many restaurants(Kewpie's, Shiraz, Charnock City, Lake club, Tolly club)while staying at the Tolly club(estd 1862) earlier meant for white sahibs only.Yesterday we saw a light and sound show at the Victoria memorial(It is very pretty) .The show wasn't terrible but it wasnt great either. Then we came back.next friday we plan to visit  an old jute mill(there are loads in bengal). So adios for now amigos will post later.

My jaipur trip

I went to Jaipur in January this year as my dad had a conference there. So while he listened to the lectures, we decided to explore Jaipur. We went to the Amber fort and the city palace and we tried to go to the Jantar Mantar but there wasnt any time.At the Amber fort we had a great negotiation with a guide for his fee.But we had a great experience and the price was worth it.By the time we were done it was already evening so we picked up dad and left for the hotel. After a bad dinner we went to sleep. The next day after dropping off dad we went to the city palace. The city palace is huge.It has an atrium which has the four gates and it is close to the Maharaja's  palace which has multi coloured windows. We were so absorbed in looking at the colours that we forgot the Jantar mantar. So we couldn't visit. We left the next day. Here are some photos taken by me of our trip.
                                                                      Amber from afar
                                                            The Chand Pol(moon gate)
                                                        The large garden
                                                                An aerial view
The entrance to the city palace
                                                      Where the Raja discusses
                                                       The colored windows
The city palace has now been turned into a museum with lots of artifacts, curios, photographs, paintings and weapons that once belonged to the royal family.
